Prices on household appliances may increase in Iran

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 13

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The Association of the Industries of the Household Appliance of Iran wants the increasing of the price of some goods by 5-6 times, Secretary of the association Abbas Hashemi told IRNA, Trend reports.

Hashemi noted that the Iran's Market Regulation Headquarters must decide on this issue.

Hashemi added that taking into account the increase in the price of raw materials, the price of water heaters should be increased by 134 percent, and the combi boilers - by 158 percent in the 7th month of current Iranian year (September 22- October 21, 2020) compared to the same month of the last Iranian year.

The secretary emphasized that the continuation of this situation results in losses for producers. New price should be regulated in accordance with market as soon as possible, since the price of the euro in the 7th month of current Iranian year increased by 163 percent compared to the same month of last Iranian year.

“There is a significant difference between the prices on sale and the price regulations for producers,” he said.

At present, the average price of a water heater in Iran amounts to 19.5 million rials (about $464), and a combi boiler - 160 million rials (about $3,809).

A strong devaluation took place in Iran in the summer of 2018. As a result of the devaluation, the Iranian currency depreciated about four times. Later, a certain balance was established as a result of the intervention of the Central Bank of Iran. However, the foreign currency has started to rise again in Iran recently.

SANA system is a system introduced by the Central Bank of Iran to the currency exchange offices, where the price of 1 euro is 355,729 rials, and the price of $1 is 299,062 rials.
