Kazakhstan sees increase in non-cash payments volume

A total of 4.4 million transfers worth 42.2 trillion tenge ($99.7 billion) were made via services of Kazakhstan National Bank's payment systems in Oct. 2020, Trend reports with reference to the data of the bank.

This is 5.5 percent less in volume and 4.4 percent more in value compared to Sept. 2020.

On average, 199,600 transactions worth 1.9 trillion tenge ($4.4 billion) were carried out daily.

The volume of plastic cards issued in Kazakhstan amounted to 45.4 million cards as of Nov. 1, 2020, and 56.5 percent of them were used in Oct. 2020.

The volume of transactions via plastic cards of Kazakh issuers amounted to 344.2 million transactions worth 5.5 trillion tenge ($13 billion) in Oct. 2020, which means an increase of 4.7 percent in volume and by 6.8 percent in value compared to Sept. 2020.

The share of non-cash payments in the structure of operations using payment carts of Kazakh issuers increased to 92.7 percent in volume (94.2 percent in Sept.) and to 71.5 percent in value (70.8 percent in Sept. 2020).

To date, 17 payment systems operate in Kazakhstan, including payment systems of the National Bank, money transfer systems, and payment cards systems.
