Iran's CBI reveals amount of loans issued in Iran's housing and construction sector

The Iranian banks issued loans worth 701 trillion rials (about $16.7 billion) to the housing and construction sector in Iran during the first nine months of the current year (March 20 through December 20, 2020), Trend reports citing the statistics of Central Bank of Iran (CBI).

According to the statistics, about 136 trillion rials (about $3.24 billion) were issued for construction work in housing and construction sector within 9 months.

“In addition, Iranian banks issued loans worth 207 trillion rials (about $4.92 billion) as working capital in this sector,” the statistics said.

Over the 9 months, 159 trillion rials (about $3.79 billion) were issued for repair work and 23.8 trillion rials (about $567 million) for development work in the housing and construction sector, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, at the same time, 227 trillion rials (about $5.4 billion) worth of loans were issued for development of Iran's industrial and mining sectors.

Furthermore, Iranian banks have issued loans worth 358 billion rials (about $8.5 million) for the purchase of personal assets in the housing and construction sector, 168 trillion rials (about $4 billion) for the purchase of housing and 6.87 trillion rials (about $163 million) for other purposes.

As reported, the Iranian banks issued loans worth a total of about 12.2 quadrillion rials (about $290 billion) in various sectors over the nine months. The number of issued loans increased by 94.8 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.
