Most transactions on state securities in Azerbaijan accounts for primary market

The total volume of transactions on state securities at the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) amounted to 2.2 billion manat ($1.3 billion) and their number was 436 from January through February 2021, Trend reports citing the reported data of the BSE.

In accordance with the report, 318 transactions worth 1.9 billion manat that’s $1.1 billion (88.8 percent of the total volume) were conducted in the primary market.

About 84.8 percent of that volume (190 transactions) accounted for short-term notes of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) worth 1.6 billion manat ($941 million). Some 128 deals accounted for bonds of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Finance in the amount of 295.6 million manat ($173.9 million).

Some 118 transactions worth 246.05 million manat ($144.7 million) accounted for the secondary market of state securities. The share was 11.2 percent of the total number of state securities transactions.

The volume of REPO transactions on state securities amounted to 537.4 million manat ($316.1 million). Some 428 REPO transactions on state bonds were carried out on the BSE from January through February 2021.

The capitalization of the BSE on the last trading day of February 2021 reached 4.2 billion manat ($2.5 billion), has increased by seven percent since the beginning of the year.
