Lending to industrial and production sector decreases in Azerbaijan

The volume of lending to the industrial and manufacturing sector in Azerbaijan in January 2021 amounted to 981.6 million manat ($577.4 million), Trend reports citing statistics from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

This figure is 156.9 million manat that’s $92.3 million (13.8 percent) less than in January 2020.

According to the CBA, 187.9 million manat that’s $110.5 million (19.1 percent) of the total lending to industry and production accounted for short-term loans. The loans worth 145.5 million manat ($85.6 million) of that volume were issued in national currency while 42.4 million manat ($24.9 million) in foreign currency.

The remaining 784.8 million manat that’s $461.6 million (80 percent) accounted for long-term loans. The loans in the national currency were allocated in the amount of 532 million manat ($312.9 million), while loans in foreign currency accounted for 252.9 million manat ($148.8 million).

Transactions in foreign currency amounted to 30.1 percent (295.3 million manat that’s $173.7 million) of the total lending to the industrial and manufacturing sector, while in national currency - 677.5 million manat ($398.5 million) or 69 percent.

The share of this sphere in lending to the real sector amounted to 6.7 percent, which is 0.6 percent less than in January 2020.

In general, the volume of lending to the real sector of the Azerbaijani economy in January 2021 amounted to 14.6 billion manat ($8.6 billion).
