Int'l money transfers value increases in Kazakhstan

A total of 5.1 million transfers worth 58.7 trillion tenge ($138.3 billion) were made via services of Kazakhstan National Bank's payment systems in Feb. 2021, Trend reports with reference to the data of the bank.

This is 37 percent more in volume and 5.5 percent more in value compared to Jan. 2021. On average, 253,600 transactions worth 2.9 trillion tenge ($6.8 billion) were carried out daily.

The volume of plastic cards issued in Kazakhstan amounted to 50.3 million cards as of Mar. 1, 2021, and 54.3 percent of them were used in Feb. 2021.

The volume of transactions via plastic cards of Kazakh issuers amounted to 387.8 million transactions worth 5.5 trillion tenge ($12.9 billion) in Feb. 2021, which means an increase of 9 percent in volume and by 12 percent in value compared to Feb. 2021.

Furthermore, the total volume of funds sent via international systems of money transfers amounted to 0.2 million transfers worth 65.6 billion ($154.5 million) in Feb. 2021, which is 11.4 percent less in value compared to Jan. 2021.

Out of the total volume of transfers, 75.5 percent of total volume or 92.4 percent of total value (60.6 billion tenge or $142.8 million) accounted for transfers from Kazakhstan to other countries.

Some 24.5 percent of total volume (0.06 million) and 7.6 percent of total value (5 billion tenge or $11.7 million) accounted for transfers in Kazakhstan.

The remaining 0.1 million transfers worth 21.6 billion tenge ($50.9 million) accounted for transfers from other countries to Kazakhstan.
