Azerbaijan's Feb.2021 lending to agriculture grows

The volume of lending to agriculture, forestry, and fishing in Azerbaijan amounted to 569.8 million manat ($335.1 million) in February 2021, Trend reports citing data from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

Lending to this sector increased by 35.5 million manat ($20.8 million) or 6.6 percent compared to the same month of 2020.

The long-term loans accounted for 494.8 million manat ($291 million) or 86.8 percent of the total lending volume to the sector. The loans worth 373.7 million manat ($219.8 million) were issued in national currency, 121.1 million manat ($71.2 million) - in foreign currency.

The short-term loans in the sector of agriculture, forestry, and fishery amounted to 40 million manat ($23.5 million) or 7 percent of the total lending volume to the sector. Some 32.5 million manat ($19.1 million) of that volume were issued in national currency, and 7.5 million manat ($4.4 million) - in foreign currency.

The loans were mainly issued to the private institutions in the national currency, which amounted to 71.3 percent (406.2 million manat that’s $238.9 million) of the total lending volume to the sector. The lending transactions in foreign currency made up 128.6 million manat that’s $75.6 million (22.6 percent).

The share of lending to the agricultural sector in lending to the real sector in February of this year amounted to 3.9 percent and this indicator grew by 0.5 percentage points on an annualized basis.

In general, the volume of lending to the real sector in the reporting month amounted to over 14.6 billion manat ($8.6 billion), which is 1.08 billion manat ($640 million) more than in February of last year.
