IMF unveils outlook for ratio of Azerbaijan's state budget deficit to GDP

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has predicted the ratio of the state budget deficit to GDP in Azerbaijan to equal 5.2 percent in 2021, Trend reports citing the IMF’s Regional Economic Outlook on the Middle East and Central Asia for April 2021.

The given forecast is 1.2 percent less compared to the forecast of the period of 2020 (6.4 percent).

According to IMF forecasts, in 2022, the ratio of Azerbaijan's state budget deficit to GDP will reduce by more than half and amount to 2.3 percent.

At the same time, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Finance predicted the ratio of the state budget deficit to GDP in 2021 to be 4.1 percent, which is 0.6 percent less compared to 2020.

At the beginning of this year, Azerbaijan's external public debt amounted to 14.9 million manat ($8.82 billion), or 20.7 percent of GDP.
