ADB issues forecast on Azerbaijan's internal, external public debts for 2021-22

Azerbaijan's domestic public debt will make up 21.1 percent of GDP by the end of 2021, ‘Asian Development Outlook 2021’ report of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) said, Trend reports on Apr.29.

According to ADB forecasts, in 2022 the level of the country's domestic public debt will drop to 20 percent of GDP, and this will happen as a result of the recovery of economic growth.

The Asian Development Bank also notes that the external public debt by the end of 2021 will be reduced to the equivalent of 20 percent of GDP, and by the end of 2022 - to 18.4 percent.

By the beginning of this year, according to the Ministry of Finance, Azerbaijan's external public debt amounted to $8.82 billion, which is equivalent to over 14.9 billion manat, or 20.7 percent of GDP. Azerbaijan's domestic public debt exceeded 1.9 billion manat ($1.12 billion), making up 2.7 percent of GDP.
