1Q2021 value of operations via interbank national settlements system in Azerbaijan down

Some 14.5 billion manat ($8.5 billion) worth transactions through the system of interbank national settlements had been carried out in Azerbaijan from January through March 2021, Trend reports referring to the statistical report of the country's Central Bank (CBA).

According to the CBA, totally in the reporting period, 82,000 payment transactions were conducted.

Besides, 6.67 million transactions were conducted in the amount of 2.63 billion manat ($1.55 billion) through the settlement clearing system for small payments, which reflects rise of 17.7 percent on annual basis.

By the late March of this year, banks' receipts through high-speed money transfer systems amounted to 156.6 million manat ($92.12 million), which means rise of 38.8 percent year-on-year. Some 84,000 transactions were made on non-bank money transfers in the amount of 102.3 million manat ($60.18 million), which is 50.4 percent more than in the same month of last year.

Overall, in the first quarter of 2021, the turnover on debit and credit cards through ATMs and POS terminals in Azerbaijan made up 3.13 billion manat ($1.84 billion), growing by 16.9 percent compared to 1Q2020.
