Azerbaijan's lending to household sector slightly down

The volume of loans in the household sector as of early April 2021 decreased by 1.3 percent compared to early April 2020, making up 6.87 billion manat ($4.04 billion), Trend reports on May 21 referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan's statistical report.

According to the report, 1.01 billion manat ($590 million), or 14.7 percent of loans to this sector, accounted for short-term loans, of which 836.8 million manat ($492.2 million) were issued in national currency and 174.3 million manat ($102.5 million) in foreign currency.

Long-term loans exceeded 5.62 billion manat ($3.3 billion), or 81.8 percent of the sector. Loans in the national currency were issued in the amount of 5.35 billion manat ($3.15 billion), and the share of foreign currency accounted for 268.4 million manat ($157.8 million).

The household lending operations were mainly carried out in the national currency. So, the total operations carried out in the currency amounted to 90.1 percent (about 6.19 billion manat or $3.6 billion) of the total amount of lending to the household sector.

The share of household lending in lending to the real sector as of early April this year amounted to 46.6 percent, having increased by 2.1 percentage points over the year.
