Lending to Azerbaijan's energy, chemistry and natural resources sector grows

The volume of lending to the energy, chemistry and natural resources sector in Azerbaijan amounted to 778.4 million manat ($457.9 million) by early May 2021, which is by 24.9 percent more compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports on July 15 with reference to the statistics of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

Some 9.9 million manat ($5.8 million) or two percent, accounted for short-term loans. About 2.1 million manat ($1.2 million) of that volume were issued in national currency while in foreign currency - $7.8 million.

Long-term loans accounted for 484.2 million manat ($284.8 million) or 98 percent. Loans in the national currency were issued in the amount of 1.2 million manat ($705,882) while in foreign currency - 482.9 million in manat equivalent ($284.05 million).

The main share of all lending operations carried out in the energy, chemistry and natural resources sector accounted for foreign currency, amounting to 490.7 million in manat equivalent ($288.6 million).

The share of lending to this sector in lending to the real sector amounted to 5.2 percent, which is by one percentage point more compared to the same period of 2020.

In general, lending to the real sector of the Azerbaijani economy amounted to 15.07 billion manat ($8.9 billion) during the first five months of 2021, which is by 301.4 million manat ($177.3 million) or two percent more than in the same period of last year.
