The total value of bank deposits of Azerbaijan’s population in the national currency grew in October 2021, Trend reports citing a statistical report from the country's Central Bank (CBA).
According to the CBA, this value exceeded 8.8 billion manat or nearly $5.2 billion, up by 49.3 million manat ($29 million) or 12.9 percent on annual basis.
Besides, in October this year, 56.7 percent (five billion manat or $29.4 billion) of the deposits were placed in national currency and 43.3 percent (3.8 billion manat or $2.2 billion) - in foreign currency.
In November, the average rate of the national currency to 1 US dollar was 1.7 manat, for 1 euro - 1.94 manat, 100 Turkish liras - 16.09 manat, and 100 Russian ruble - 2.34 manat.
The bank deposits of the population in Azerbaijan (including funds of individuals) from January through August 2021 increased by 4.7 percent - up to about 8.56 billion manat ($5.04 billion). Meanwhile, bank deposits of the population in foreign currency decreased by 7.8 percent - to 3.82 billion manat ($2.25 billion), or 44.7 percent of all deposits of the population (at the end of 2020, the share of deposits in foreign currency was 50.8 percent).
