BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 24. The total assets of banks in Azerbaijan amounted to 40.1 billion manat ($23.6 billion), total liabilities - 35.1 billion manat ($20.6 billion), capital on balance sheet - 4.99 billion manat ($2.9 billion) as of May 1, 2022, Trend reports citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan Republic (CBAR).
The assets, liabilities and balance capital of the banking sector increased by 22.4 percent, 25.2 percent and 5.6 percent respectively, as compared to the same period last year.
The loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks increased by 22.1 percent (3.2 billion manat - $1.8 billion) in April 2022 compared to the same period last year - up to 17.8 billion manat ($10.4 billion).
Share of deposit portfolio in the structure of liabilities of Azerbaijani banks dominated (81.3 percent of the total volume of liabilities) in the indicated period. The deposit portfolio of banks increased by 33.9 percent (7.2 billion manat - $4.2 billion) or up to 28.6 billion manat ($16.8 billion) in April 2022.
