BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 25. The total assets of Azerbaijan's banks as of January 31, 2023, exceeded 45.8 billion manat ($26.9 billion), while total liabilities accounted for 40.2 billion manat ($23.6 billion), and the total capital equaled 5.6 billion manat ($3.2 billion), Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) told Trend.

According to the CBA, assets, liabilities as well as the capital of the banking sector increased by 20.74, 21.99, and 13.93 percent, respectively, on annual basis.

The loan portfolio of Azerbaijan's banks in January this year decreased by 0.38 percent (75 million manat or $44.1 million), compared to January 2022, and totaled 19.6 million manat ($11.5 million).

Meanwhile, deposit portfolio in the structure of liabilities of Azerbaijani banks prevailed (82.01 percent of the total liabilities). As of January 31, 2023, the deposit portfolio of banks amounted to 32.9 billion manat ($19.3 billion).

The total assets of the local banks as of January 1, 2023, exceeded 47 billion manat ($27.6 billion), while total liabilities accounted for 41.4 billion manat ($24.3 billion), and the total capital equaled 5.6 billion manat ($3.2 billion).
