Turkmenistan notes increase in total funds across current accounts, bank deposits

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, January 19. The combined funds in settlement, current accounts, and deposits held by enterprises, organizations, and the population in Turkmenistan's banks as of December 1 of last year reached 41.7 billion Turkmen manat, equivalent to $11.9 billion, Trend reports.

The Central Bank of Turkmenistan reports that these data are 5 percent higher than the same date in 2022 (39.7 billion Turkmen manat, or $11.3 billion).

State-owned enterprise and organization finances accounted for 27.7 billion Turkmen manat ($7.9 billion), or 12.6 percent more than on December 1, 2022 (24.6 billion Turkmen manat, or $7 billion).

At the same time, funds from corporations, non-governmental organizations, and the population accounted for 14 billion Turkmen manat ($4 billion), a 6.6 percent decrease from the same date in 2022 (15 billion Turkmen manat or $4.3 billion).

Furthermore, the funds of individuals and entrepreneurs without the formation of a legal entity in the banks of Turkmenistan amounted to 4.3 billion Turkmen manat ($1.2 billion), which is 10.4 percent less than on December 1, 2022 (4.8 billion Turkmen manat or $1.3 billion).

As per the records of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, the established official exchange rate for the Turkmen manat against the US dollar on January 18, 2024, stands at 3.5 manat per USD.
