ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 30. The total volume of cashless payments through terminals in Turkmenistan from January through March this year amounted to 3.12 billion Turkmen manat ($893 million), Trend reports.
According to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, these figures for the specified period are 12 percent less than in comparison with the same period in 2023, which amounted to 3.55 million Turkmen manat ($1.01 billion).
The amount of non-cash payments made through ATMs in the first quarter of 2024 amounted to 103.3 million Turkmen manat ($29.5 million), which is 29 percent more than in the same period of 2023 (80 million Turkmen manat or $22.9 million).
Besides, the total volume of cashless payments through terminals in Turkmenistan in 2023 amounted to 15.74 billion Turkmen manat ($4.5 billion), which is 14 percent more than in 2022, when it amounted to 13.8 billion Turkmen manat ($3.94 billion).
Meanwhile, according to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, the official exchange rate of the Turkmen manat against the US dollar on May 30, 2024, is set at 3.5 manat per USD.
