Azerbaijani Communications Ministry Publicizes Number of CDMA Subscribers

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / Subscribers of the CDMA (Code Division Multiples Access) network, rendered to enterprises of the ministry of the Communications and Telecommunications, exceed 10,000 people, the Ministry said.

Currently, 5,255 users of technically possible 10,000 of Baktelekom have an access to CDMA network. The figure at Aztelekom compromises 4,853 on 12 regions of Azerbaijan.

This service has already been available within the state-run telecommunication agencies in the Absheron Peninsula, Shamakhy, Lankaran, Guba, Khachmaz, Zagatala, Shamkir, Ganja, Imishli, and other regions of the Country. The Azerbaijan Telecommunication and IT Ministry-subjected enterprises, PA "Aztelekom" and PO "Baktelekom" offer these services to subscriber in Azerbaijan.

CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) is a multiple access system with code division. This is a wireless technology designed after GSM and for the time applied by QUALCOMM. CDMA which converts speech into digital information, which is then sent as a radio signal across a wireless network. Presented as a commercial product first in 1995, CDMA is one of the most rapidly developing wireless technologies in the World. In 1999, International Telecommunications Union chose CDMA as an industrial standard for the new 3G wireless system

In addition, CDMA services in Azerbaijan are provided by JV Catel, Aztrank, and Ulduz Telecom (Ultel).
