Participants of GAID Conference in Baku Determined

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Bbayeva / A meeting of the Global Alliance for ICT and Development (GAID) of the UN Department on economic and social issues will be held with the participation of ministers from 10 different countries, during the course of the BakuTel 2007 exhibition, the Azerbaijani Communication and IT Ministry reported.

Among the dignitaries expected to visit Azerbaijan while attending the exhibition are: Communication and Information Technology Foreign Ministers, including Leonid Reiman from Russia, Muhammad Suleymani from Iran, Basem Rousan from Jordan, and Amirzai Sangin from Afghanistan; along with the Lithuanian Minister on Electron Government Issues, Ina Gudele; the Georgian deputy Minister of Economic Development, Vakhtang Lejeva; the Vietnam Deputy Director General of the Science Department at Communication and IT Ministry, Tran Guan Kuon; and the UN head of Transmission Economy Department and Special Affairs, Alezei Tikhomirov.

The participants will present issues regarding the development of communication and information technology in their own countries. The conference will be held on 21 November, with the Azerbaijani Communication and IT Minister, Ali Abbasov, as well as GAID's coordinator Sarbuland Khana and the head of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Hamadoun Toure, taking part in the conference.
