Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / Azercell Telecom JV, a leading company in the mobile communications market of Azerbaijan was awarded with Intellect-2007 prize in two categories by the IT Magazine and the Project Management Association.
Azercell was nominated for the "Leader in non-oil sector" for its contributions to the development of Azerbaijan economy, while the company's General Manager Halim Ates became a winner in the category of "The manager of the year" for his successfully demonstrated management capabilities and his role in increased successes of the company he leads.
The presentation ceremony was held in Hyatt Regency hotel on December 15, on the day of 11th anniversary of the company.
In his opening address to the ceremony the editor-in-chief of the IT Magazine Arif Mammadzadeh said that the prize instituted in 2004 had been awarded for the projects successfully implemented in different fields of the national economy of Azerbaijan. According to him, different companies and institutes have submitted more than 200 projects to the IT Magazine for the Intellect - 2007 award, however, only 48 of them were able to be represented in final stage. "We award those persons, who are active in the social-economic life and the best companies and institutions, having important role in development of the country's economy"- said A.Mammadzadeh.
According to Mammadzadeh, the projects regarding communications and information technologies and education and telecommunication were accepted in previous years. "The organizers decided to assess the activities of the different persons and set up the "personality" category this year". Mr. A. Halim Ates, the General Manager of the Azercell Telecom JV was awarded in this category.
The representative of Azercell Telecom JV Fuad Musayev received both of the prizes on behalf of the General Manager. F. Musayev said that such a price to the company and its leader was highly appreciated by Azercell. "We are glad having such a prize nominated by the IT Magazine. We will do our best to continue being successful in the future" - he emphasized.
Azercell Telecom has been awarded to the Intellect prize forth time. The mobile communications provider received this prize in 2004 for GencSim tariff package, in 2005 for EDGE technology and in 2006 for the SIMURG service.
