Charter of Azerbaijan’s Council on Internet Problems Devised

Azerbaijan, Baku, /corr. Trend S. Babayeva/ Azerbaijan's Ministry of Communications & Information Technologies is working out the charter of the Special Commission for Solution of Internet Problems in Azerbaijan, a source at the Ministry stated on 7 January.

"The charter can be worked out within a month", the Ministry says.

The Council will function at the Ministry of Communications and it will bring together experts from NGOs, government, as well as from the spheres of education, business and science.

The source found it difficult to say when the Council will commence functioning because a meeting should be held to determine the structure and administration of the organization.

According to Ali Abbasov, Azerbaijan's Minister of Communications & Information Technologies, the decision to establish the Council was made due to the problems of Azerbaijan's domains.

Minister thinks that the establishment of the Council will have a positive impact on the image of the Country in ICANN.

(Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers or ICANN is a non-profit organization established in the autumn of 1998 with the participation of the US administration for the solution of problems connected with domain names, IP-adresses and other aspects of the functioning of internet.
