Azerpocht Signs Biggest Contract within ‘Development of Financial Services’ Project

Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 April / Trend corr. S.Babayeva / Azerpocht joint venture at the Azerbaijani Communication and IT Ministry signed the biggest contract within the framework of project 'Development of financial services' with the World Bank. According to Azerpocht, the contract was signed with the consortium of company HP, Colvir and Sinam, who won the tender for purchase of postal-financial and automated operation systems.

The software package includes connecting the local network of Azerpocht to the foreign and local information systems. The company must render assistance to Azerpocht to test the system, to hold the trainings for technicians and accountants, and to install information-accounting centre for the Ministry.

The work which will be started on 10 April must be finished by the end of 2008. The cost of the contract is estimated at several million USD.

Azerpocht szaid the system will include countless models on finanical and postal issues including deposit, treasure, management of assets and liabilities, management of liquidity, information management system and automated accounting book.

Initially, the system will be put into commission in the central office of Azerpocht, one postal branch and five postal departments in Baku. All postal branches in Baku will be connected with the system by 2010.

The cost of the project 'Development of financial services' comprises $17.5mln, WB will allocate credits worth $12.25mln and rest of the part will be paid by Azerbaijani Government.
