Internet Prices to be Decreased by 40% in Azerbaijan: Head of Aztelekom
Azerbaijan, Ganja, 9 April /corr. Trend V.Mammadov / By the end of the year, the Internet prices in Azerbaijan will be decreased by 30-40%, said the Head of Aztelekom Production Unit, Mammad Mammadov, during the meeting of the Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications in Azerbaijan's city of Ganja.
"Currently the prices for Internet decreased by seven times as compared to four years ago," he said.
According to Mammadov, Azerbaijan is the only country in the CIS which provides Internet to all its regions. "There are many Internet users in Azerbaijan's capital, but in the regions, dial-up is being used to connect to Internet and its speed is very low," he said.
Some 30 Internet providers function in Azerbaijan and only two of them are State companies.
According to the information provided by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Communications & Information Technologies, currently the number of the Internet users in Azerbaijan equals 1mln people.
