Azerbaijan Creates Strong Regional Search System: Minister
Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 June /corr. Trend S.Babayeva / During the next two years, a strong regional search system will be created in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Minister of Communications & Information Technologies, Ali Abbasov, said during the 2nd International Conference on Control and Optimization of Industrial Applications in Baku on 2 June.
"We suggest establishing a unified system based on three key components - user's query, information model of the sphere and information resources," the Minister said.
According to Abbasov, today the key problem is the existence of barrier between inquires of users and information resources. "In many cases, the users do not have knowledge how to inquire or obtain necessary information," he said.
The Minister did not spoke of exact period and cost of the project.
A search system is a website providing an opportunity to search information on Internet. The key criteria of the quality of work of the search machine are the relevance, fullness of base, consideration of morphology of the language. According to the data being provided by Net Applications in December 2007, the market share of Google in the world made up 77.04%, Yahoo - 12.46%, MSN - 3.33%, Microsoft Live Search - 2.57%, AOL - 2.12%, Ask - 1.38%, AltaVista - 0.13%, Excite - 0.07%, Lycos - 0.02%, All the Web - 0.02%.
According to the analytical company comScore, in December 2007 all search sites processed 66bln 221mln search inquires.
