‘e-Government’ Project Presented in Georgia

Georgia, Tbilisi, 12 November / Trend , corr. N.Kirtskhalia/The presentation of the single state network system was held by the Magtikom mobile company and State Commission to assist electron management development in the Tbilisi Mariott hotel on 11 November.

In 2007, Magtikom won the tender announced by the Georgian Government to establish a single communication network for the state organizations. On 3 November 2008, three months earlier than the fixed date, company has completed building of a network and connected to a single government network of more than 400 sites across state departments and ministries across Georgia

Based on the latest technology the unified government network takes into account the creation of a network in the territory of Georgia, united and secure computer VPN network-type, which will connect with each other government agencies via online regime, as well as will make it possible to exchange digital data of all types between central and regional authorities, will dramatically reduce communication costs of public agencies, allowing them to use cheaper high-speed Internet and Intranet.

The single state network makes it possible to introduce an electron management in Georgia.

"The communication based on modern technologies enables state organization to cooperate more extensive," Ekaterina Sharashidze, the Georgian Economic Development Minister, said.

Vakhtang Lejava, the deputy Economic Development Minister, said that the single state network will lighten activity of citizens, as well.

The system will allow citizens to get a range of documents from public and civil register. "Citizens will be able to get necessary documents from state organizations without leaving their houses and escaping bureaucracy," Lejava said.
