Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 November / Trend , corr. S.Babayeva /A Task Group to study countries' interest (from East Europe to China) in the project was created in the result of the meeting of ministers dedicated to the "Transnational Eurasian high-speed information highway" topic in Baku.
At a meeting held under the chairmanship of the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Minister Ali Abbasov, was attended by senior officials of 16 countries (Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Estonia, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Slovenia, Egypt, Afghanistan, USA, Georgia, Iran, India and Jordan). A Baku Declaration was accepted.
According to Abbasov, the Task Group will develop and present a treatment to countries. "Those who support us and become members of the consortium, created in the next phase of the project," said Abbasov.
The main goal of the project is to create a powerful information infrastructure to access affordable and quality Internet broadband services for the development of electronic information networks and e-market.
The Minister believes that the project will enable participating countries not only to develop information technology, but also the social sector and other areas of the economy.
The new Transnational Eurasian high-speed information highway project, which covers about 20 countries (Eastern Europe to China) to be set up on the base of bronchofiberscope Trans-Asia-Europe (TAE) highway.
Experts believe that a single management structure must be
created to implement the project, all countries concerned countries should
develop a coherent strategy for a network, to regulate tariffs.
The cost of the project has not yet been determined.
According to the Booz & Co research consulting company,
the penetration broadband communication in the region is only 5 per cent.
Booz & Co believes that it is necessary to invest in to develop the
infrastructure, which will increase the information flow in the region in
future.

Commonwealth in the field of Communications (RCC), Association of TAE,
countries such as Russia, Slovenia, Estonia, Belarus, USA and etc.
