Global financial crisis does not affect Azerbaijan’s mobile operator

The global financial crisis did not affect the Azerbaijan's mobile operator Bakcell. The company continue financing from internal resources.
"As the global financial crisis has slightly affected Azerbaijan, we continue investing in company's development," Bakcell said.
In the terms of global financial crisis the sum of foreign borrowings from international financial markets were cut, and respectively Azerbaijani banks cut crediting since August 2008.
Since developing of business the company has to extend its staff.
Today the operator covers roughly 80 percent of the entire territory of Azerbaijan. The company refused from making statement with respect to investments into the communication sector of the country.
Bakcell is a joint venture of the GTIB and Azerbaijani Ministry of Communication dated from March 1994.
In December 1998 Bakcell introduced the leading telecommunication technology GSM. In December 2003company has completed the privatization process successfully. Since January 2004 Bakcell has been functioning as a company with 100 percent private capital.
Three GSM operators - Azercell Telecom, Bakcell and Azerfon operates in Azerbaijan.
