Azerbaijani president visits computer plant

During his visit to Mingachevir, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev visited the KUR computer plant, the AzerTaj news agency reported.

The president became familiar with the KUR production department and a company product exhibition. He praised the performance of the plant.

KUR was established in September 2005 as a joint venture.

Major shareholders are the Communications and IT Ministry and local company Sinam.

So far, the enterprise has produced over 27,000 computers for the country's secondary schools. The products are also exported to Moldova and Georgia. Five types of information kiosks and two types of stationary telephones are produced by KUR.

From 2005-2008, the enterprise produced over 29,000 personal computers, 127 kiosks and 22,000 telephones. The plant provides a three-year warranty on its products. KUR employs 62 people. Their average monthly wage is 230 manat.
