In January to February, 2009, the Azerbaijan Communications and Information Technology Ministry provided over 2,000 families with telephones, the office said on March 10.
The total number of telephone numbers commissioned in that period hit 2,032. Aztelekom provided 1,872 numbers and Baktelekom - the remaining part.
According to the forecasts of the Government, the number of telephones in Azerbaijan will rise to 19.8 per 100 people by 2011. Today, the figure is 15 telephones per 100 people.
In 2008, the Ministry commissioned 126,400 telephone numbers.
