Banking sector takes interests in national standards on information security

Banking sector of Azerbaijan takes interests in national standards on IT security, spokesman for the State Committee on standardization, metrology and patent, Fazil Talibli, told Trend .

Though official appeal for registration of standards has not made, it is obvious that establishment of safe IT processing confidential data becomes exclusively important for economic and financial life.

Talibli said national standards on IT security AZS 356.2-2009 and AZS 356.3-2009 were registered on May 18 and enacted into law on June 1. AZS 356.1-2009 standard designed on the basis of ISO/IEC 15408-1:2005 standards, is applied since Apr. 20. This standard ensures application of methods and technologies of information security, as well as assessment criteria for IT security. The standard includes information security, intellectual property copyrights, prevention of information security danger.

Application of harmonized standard ISO 15408 (Common Criteria), reflecting the most advanced global achievements in appraising information security, will enable to accustom IT to modern international requirements on information security, further simplifying application of foreign products and export and property.

The standard will also provide basis for qualitative estimation of information risks, needed in insuring computerized system and reduce common expenses for supporting information security regime through unifying methods, measures and means of information security.
