Azerbaijani pupils to participate in XXI international competition on information science

XXI international competitions on information science will be held among pupils in Plovdiv (Bulgaria) on August 8-15, 2009. Azerbaijani national team on information science supported by the communication and IT ministry, the ministry of education, as well as AZERFON OJSC will participate in the meeting.  

National team trained by famous teacher on information science Ramin Mahmudzadeh consists of the most talented Azerbaijani pupils interested in information science and programming. 

AZERFON OJSC director general Guido Helbich met with members of national team on July 31. Helbich spoke about role of AZERFON in support of professional staff in IT and development of information-communication technologies in Azerbaijan. 

"At present, information-communication technologies is announced priority sector in Azerbaijan. Highly qualified staff is necessary to ensure literate development of this sector. It is necessary to reveal future specialists in this sphere among pupils and inculcate them in IT specialties. Participation of pupils in these competitions is very important. Support of AZERFON in these competitions can be considered as stimulus in choice of future profession of programmers for Azerbaijani pupils," AZERFON director general said.    

Azerbaijan has been participating in the international competition among pupils since 1994. Azerbaijani team got bronze medals in 1996, 1997 and 2004. The team got silver medal in 2003.
