Realization of next stage of the project 'People's Computer' will be considered during Azerbaijani international telecommunication exhibition BakuTel-2009, the Communication and IT Ministry told Trend .
The first stage of the 'People's Computer' pilot project has been completed, the ministry said.
Approximately 3,500 PCs were sold within the pilot project, over 2,000 were sold in regions.
Most of these computers (90 percent) are portable computers.
Computers provided within the 'People's Computer' pilot project are only offered to teachers. The project sells PCs on interest free loans for up to 12 months at 25-40 percent less than the market value.
The project has been completed with the participation of HP and Microsoft. HP's local partner company, Bestcomp Group, supplied these computers.
