The number of users of broadband Internet via ADSL technology in Azerbaijani regions has been increased 2.5 times since early 2009, the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry (MCIT) told Trend .
According to the Ministry, growth of regional e-automatic telephone exchange has allowed to increase the number of broadband Internet users.
Today, the commutation equipment DSLAM has been installed by Azerbaijani national internet provider AztelekomNet to render broadband Internet services in 36 regions of Azerbaijan.
But the broadband Internet services are rendered by NGN technology in the Absheron Peninsula and Shamakhi.
As of Nov. 20, 1,918 users of total number of ports (2,000 units) have been connected.
The total number of broadband Internet users hit 2,217 in the Aztelecom PU as of Nov.20.
