Azebaijan's mobile market is not ready to make a transition to the 4G communications standard, said Azerfon Chief Director Guido Helbih said today in an interview.

He added that the basic technology of 4G standard is considered LTE, which is technically capable of providing data transfer rates up to 100 Mbps.

"Today there is no need to use such high speeds. But in the future, with increasing requirements, technical capacity transmission equipment will also increase," Helbih said. "The amount of information in the world each year will double. Parallel to this, the amount of transmitted traffic will also increase. Youth who are primarily interested in downloading video content will play an important role in increasing the traffic. We are ready to consider a transition to the 4G standard only after the market is ready to use it."

Helbih said today a major factor in making a transition to the 4G standard is the lack of mobile phones supporting this communications standard.
