Azerbaijani Internet provider to create user database under Cybercrime convention’s requirements

Smart Systems Technology Company is carrying out operations to create user database under the requirements of the Convention on Cybercrime, the company told Trend .

The operations are planned to end by late 2010. The operations are held under the terms of the Convention on Cybercrime which Azerbaijan ratified in September 2008.

Azerbaijan's joining to the Convention will commit to form a national information security system. Today the existing infrastructure of Azerbaijani Internet providers allows realizing monitoring and saving data about operations done by Internet providers during six months. Data base of Internet providers can be available to law enforcements either on the basis of existing Azerbaijani legislation or by court's decision.

According to the Convention, the country, which was subjected to attacks, has a right to hold joint operations with law enforcements of the country where the attack was committed from.

The Institute of Information Technologies of Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences has submitted a project on creation of national data security system to the Azerbaijani Government for consideration. The document is intended to regulate the activity of electronic security management.
