Azerbaijan, Baku, March 6 / Trend H.Valiyev /

The decline in piracy in the software encourages development of the local software product designing, Director of Softline Company in Azerbaijan Alim Salahov told Trend .

According to Salakhov, presently, Azerbaijan has a lot of programmers who work on outsourcing.

"Absence of a legislation that would protect the interests of developers, does not allow them to obtain a patent for a particular development. As a result, this causes a "brain drain." Today, many Azerbaijani developers realize their full potential in Turkey, Russia, Eastern and Western Europe. Based on the statistics, reducing piracy by 10 percent could create about 1,000 jobs, particularly high-paying jobs. A person, who has the relevant certificates, may receive a decent salary under the standards comparable to the CIS markets. Based on the various estimates, the growth of job to 10,000 could be around $16 million and this means an increase in the country's turnover on a global scale," he added.

He said Microsoft estimates the annual volume of IT market in Azerbaijan at $100 million. Based on the vendor's estimates, if the Azerbaijani government tightens control over the market of unlicensed products, this figure could be achieved in the next three years.
