EBRD prepares proposals for state program on ICT development in Azerbaijan over 2009-2012

Baku office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is preparing a package of proposals for the State program on development of communication and information technologies in Azerbaijan over 2009-2012, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies said.

The issue was discussed at the last meeting between Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov with head of EBRD's office in Baku Francis Daley and the EBRD consultant on legal issues by Paul Moffatt.

At present, the Ministry is working on the preparation of additional materials on the state program. They will be submitted for the EBRD consideration soon.

Today, a state program on development of communication and information technologies over 2009-2012, was approved by all ministries and departments that are parties of the project.

The new state program is interdepartmental. It includes projects on specific industry solutions. Some of these projects are a continuation of the current ones but some are new.

The projects will promote wide implementation of ICT in society, the formation of "electronic government" and broaden the range of rendered electronic services.
