RCC Commission develops new proposals package

The Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications' (RCC) Commission on international cooperation coordination developed a package of proposals to be submitted to the World Telecommunication Development Conference, the RCC reported.

The World Telecommunication Development Conference will be held in Hyderabad (India) May 24-June 4.

The package includes 14 initiatives, including the four regional initiatives. The issue was discussed at the third meeting of the Working Group on the work of ITU (International Telecommunication Union) and 22nd meeting of the RCC International Cooperation Coordination Commission held in Tashkent March10-12.

The Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry represented the country at the event.  

The commission's members decided to propose to hold a seminar on the introduction of number portability services to study experience and implement it in the CIS countries at the ITU World Conference.

Moreover, the commission's members will offer to consider assisting in the transition from analog to digital broadcasting. Initiative is necessary to assist the countries of the RCC during the transition from analog to digital broadcasting, develop interactive multimedia applications, digital terrestrial broadcasting, and train of specialists in the field of digital broadcasting technologies.

The RCC experts regarded it necessary to explore the potential integration of digital broadcasting networks and radio access networks to achieve a full-scale interactive multimedia networks and digital terrestrial broadcasting at their base. The main goal that will help to achieve the realization of this initiative is reduction of time and cost of transition from analog to digital broadcasting in the CIS countries.
