Azerbaijan, Baku, March 23 / Trend H. Valiyev /

The Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry and the ATO Advisory Group agreed on the preparation of proposals for further cooperation coordinated by the parties, the ministry said.

The decision was taken with participation of the NATO Advisory Group's Cybersecurity and E-Government Delegation at the ministry during a recent meeting.

Delegation head David Fortney became acquainted with activities in Azerbaijan to fight cybercrime in the legislative and e-government spheres.

Group member Pierre-Dominique Lansard discussed the experiences of NATO members in developing e-government and effective protection mechanisms against cyber attacks.

Azerbaijan cooperates with many countries in building an effective protection system against cyber attacks. Azerbaijani experts are familiar with the work of the NATO Cyber Defense Center - K-5 in Estonia and regularly collaborate in this area. An integrated K-5 system turned Estonia into an IT-security technologies leader.

The Estonian government has proposed that the EU organize a simulated cyber attack to test the defense information organizations of 27 EU members. The test attack is planned for this year.

Today, Azerbaijan is working to establish a national information security system, focusing on the development of an IT and anti-cybercrime strategy. A regulation to establish information security was submitted to the government. The document was prepared on the basis of international experience. The initial version was developed by the Institute of Information Technologies of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences. The document is intended to regulate the management of electronic security.
