Azerbaijan attends discussions on preparation for ITU world conferences

Council of Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications (RCC) discussed the preparations for the World Telecommunication Development Conference ITU (International Telecommunication Union), ITU Plenipotentiary Conference, to be held in 2010, the World Radiocommunication Conferences and Radiocommunication Assembly in 2012, the RCC said.
The discussion took place within the forty-second meetings of the RCC Communications Administration Heads' Council of the RCC, held in Moscow. Azerbaijan was represented by Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov at the meeting.
A special feature of the RCC preparation for these forums is comprehensive discussions of proposals of members of RCC on the agenda of the conference at the meetings of main working bodies of the RCC. These proposals will be presented at the international forums of ITU as common proposals of the RCC.
At present, the RCC Commission for International Cooperation Coordination completes the RCC common proposals for the World Telecommunication Development Conference. These are proposal for new draft resolutions on the directions of activities of research groups of ITU development sector and four regional initiatives:
- Working off issues on the establishment and holding electronic assemblies;
- Assisting in the transition from analogue to digital broadcasting;
- Establishment of a virtual laboratory ITU for conducting remote testing of equipment, new technologies and services to achieve the objectives of resolution 76 of the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly in 2008 and the filling of ITU single database;
- Sustainable provision of electricity telecommunications facilities in rural and remote areas.
