Communication Ministry: Number of broadband connections in Baku hits 70,000

The number of broadband ADSL connections, including users of commercial providers in the area of automatic telephone exchanges of the Production Association "Baku Telephone Communications" exceeds more than 55,000 users, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies told Trend

About 20,000 subscribers of the total number of broadband ADSL are active users of broadband public internet provider BakinterNet.

According to the ministry, the volume of traffic of BakinterNet over the last five years has increased five times, and today the rate of traffic used by the network provider, is 1.5 Gbps.

BakinterNet operates to improve the hardware and software, increase the number of telecommunications equipment DSLAM, etc.

According to the Ministry, today the number of broadband connections in Baku, taking into account passive ADSL broadband users reaches 70,000. The number of broadband connections will increase up to 100,000 by late 2010.
