The Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry has included the implementation of transnational super-information line "East-West" on the agenda during the 26/22 joint meeting of the council of communication operators of the Regional Commonwealth of Communications (RCC) and RCC Telecommunications Commission, a statement said.

The meeting will be held in Dushanbe July 7-8.

The Azerbaijani side will inform participants of the meeting about adoption of the resolution on "Expansion of access to the Internet, thanks to Trans-Eurasian high-speed information highway" by the UN General Assembly. After its adoption a number of countries have expressed great interest in this project and expressed willingness to provide financial support to the project.

According to a political resolution, all regional countries were recommended to take the necessary measures to implement this project. The resolution adopted by the UN is intended to join a total of 20 countries and play an important role in development of the region. Realization of the project will eliminate the "gap" between the countries within the Western European and Pacific basins.
