Azerbaijani mobile operator Bakcell appealed to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies for a license to render telecommunication services in 3G standard, Bakcell director general Ineke Botter said.

Botter said that today the company is waiting for the ministry's reply. A positive response will allow to deploy this service for subscribers.

Official license fee set by the government is 11,000 manat.

Today, Azerbaijan has three mobile operator - Bakcell, Azercell and Azerfon. At present, only Azerfon company has the license to render telecommunications services in 3G standard.

The operators, having a license, must invest much in infrastructure. They will have to modernize all network equipment and switches, each base station.
