The Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry's Aztelekom Production Unit finished reconstructing the Astara region's central automated telephone exchange this week.
According to the ministry, the exchange's number capacity was increased to 1,320 units.
There are 16 automated telephone exchanges in the region, one electronic automated telephone exchange (EATE) in the city of Astara, and six EATEs and nine analog ATEs in the countryside. Some 42 settlements have been telephonized via satellite communication.
All EATEs are connected to the Trans-Asia-Europe international transnational cable line. The node's mounting capacity is 8,516 numbers, with a user capacity of 8,373 units.
