Azerbaijan, Baku, August 11 / Trend H. Valiyev /

IntraNS company shifted national domain. az to a new security protocol DNSSEC, IntraNS director general Faig Farmanov told Trend.

He said that protocol DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions) is running in test mode. It will be fully implemented after the majority of countries will move to this standard of security.

"Technical base of IntraNS is ready for a full transition to the protocol DNSSEC. But its introduction is a very important task," Farmanov said.

There were no problems during testing, he said.

Algorithm for DNSSEC eliminates a number of architectural vulnerabilities of the DNS system through the use of digital signatures. DNSSEC is used only in three European domain zones.

Administrators of six domain zones call less optimistic schedules to impelement DNSSEC - from two to five years.

Registrars in the European National Top Level Domains, where DNSSEC is supported, get access to their use for free. Registrars do now show serious interest in the possibilities of technology. The main reason is lack of practical experience in its implementation, lack of appropriate knowledge. Only 0.05 percent of domain names registered in the top-level domains in Europe have digital signature of DNSSEC.

With regard to global statistics of the transition to DNSSEC, now the technology is supported in 20 domain zones.
