The Azerbaijan Education Network (AZEDUNET) is connected schools of the country's 18 cities, the organization said.
AZEDUNET Director Samad Abbasov said more than 500 schools throughout the republic, connected to the network.
"300 schools are located in Baku, Sumgait, and the rest in 16 other cities of Azerbaijan. First, we conduct a comprehensive preparatory work in every school. This is the standardization of all the computers and software. Then we establish a local network within the school, which integrates all computer classes, the director's office, the teachers and the library, then we carry out connection, Abbasov said.
Another 500 educational institutions are expected to join the network AZEDUNET by late 2010. These institutions generally will cover more than 50 cities and their suburbs.
