Azerbaijan, Baku, August 25 /Trend, G.Veliyev/

Next wave of Internet tariff reductions for consumers is expected in Azerbaijan, the head of information research center Yashar Hajiyev told Trend.

According to him, this was caused by the next decrease in the cost of leased lines from the primary provider Delta Telecom.

"We should not expect a sharp rise on the growth of subscriber base for broadband access in the near future. Internet service providers themselves do not conceal the fact that the share of dial-up access still dominates in the total client base. I think that lowering the cost of ADSL bandwidth 1.5 Mbps/s to 10 manat could justify itself and thereby contribute to the progressive development of the number of subscribers for this service," said Hajiyev.

In general, great progress has seen recorded in the dynamics of the Internet market and the market of information technologies in Azerbaijan over the last year.

Careful attention is paid to pricing in the segment of the Internet for end users, new Internet service providers, improving regulatory policy. Much merit in this regard belongs to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies, public organizations and the Internet community.
Today there is a need to increase the number of proposed public e-services, development of broadband Internet access at the regional level and eliminate bureaucratic red tape to connect to broadband ADSL, which can sometimes take about 20 days.
