The Russian EastWind signed a contract with the Altyn Asir mobile communications company to expand the subscriber capacity of its billing system. EastWind is a member of the Turkmentelekom state telecommunications company.

Based on the new licensing agreement, EastWind will serve 1 million Altyn Asir subscribers. Altyn Asir provides mobile communication services in GSM and UMTS (3G) under the TM Cell brand. EastWind has successfully used its billing system since 2008. Since that time, Altyn Asir's subscriber base has significantly grown and reached half a million users in early 2010.

The Turkmen national operator is developing dynamically by expanding the coverage of its mobile network. Residents in even the remotest areas of the country use Altyn Asir.

Altyn Asir also plans to expand the range of services offered to subscribers. Today, the company offers GPRS, MMS, intercity and international calls, voicemail, and call forwarding. The company began offering UMTS (3G) services with high-speed Internet earlier this year.
