Wikipedia marks its 10th anniversary today. The resource was launched in 2001 and has become one of the largest and informative online-encyclopedias during this period.
Aliguliyev said that today the Institute's researchers hold trainings to create content for further placement in the Wikipedia projects. The Academy of Sciences is also conducting a targeted work on public enlightenment. In 2010 the Institute issued the book entitled "Wikipedia. Virtual Encyclopedia", which tells about the history, current status and existing problems of the virtual encyclopedia.
Aliguliyev noted the importance of bringing the history of the Azerbaijani people, traditions, music, cooking and other national features in all Wikipedia projects to broad public attention.
At present, the archives of the global encyclopedia include over 18 million articles, translated in more than 250 languages.
