A time-based telephone call pay system is not expected to be applied in Azerbaijan in the near future, Baku Telephone Communications Production Union Deputy Director General Khankishi Kishiyev said.

He added that the question of making the transition to a time-based pay system in the public telephone network is not urgent and is still under consideration.

"Clearly, full-time electronization of the telephone network, which today is in its final stage, is an important aspect in the implementation of the pay system in the public telephone network. But even this does not mean that the new tariff system will be implemented immediately afterward. First, world experience should be studied, and this takes time. On the other hand, the final decision will depend directly on the Tariff Board. In general, concrete steps in this direction are not expected in the near future," Kishiyev said.

He cited as an example the tariff plans of mobile operators, which are applied given the needs of different categories of users, who choose the most appropriate plan.

"The -minute pricing system per on our network has been used for a long time. It is primarily concerned with calls made to the regions of Azerbaijan, including Sumgayit," Kishiyev said.

He said Baku Telephone Communications is studying the amount of time that an ordinary user spends on telephone usage. According to the operator's estimates, the figure is 450 minutes per month.
